Insomniac Press Commissions Two Author Profiles

Mike O'Connor was the first to see the advantage of BookShorts' "Script to Screen" at BookExpo Canada this year, and quickly signed two of his authors to the program. Author Anne Stone who penned the spooky and poignant novel Delible is eager to use her interview as she continues her reading and publicity schedule this fall. Ultra-marathoner and new author Ray Zahab (with Sarah Steinberg) is no stranger to the media coverage, having been interviewed by some of the most prestigious news organizations. His profile on Running for My Life captures his passion and enthusiasm for the extreme sport to which he now dedicates his life (but it was really hard to get his to sit still!)

Both video profiles are now posted ! BookShorts.com/blog

McArthur Returns to BookShorts for Two More Profiles

That Kim McArthur, she doesn't miss a beat. This fall will see the release of two more BookShort productions for the indie house -- Madelaine Marentette comes out in December this year with Grail Springs Holistic Detox. The profile for Barry Callaghan was commissioned to bring some added visibility to the whole series of book that McArthur is re-issuing over the next months; watch for Barry's fabulous life storytelling in mid-September.

Chatelaine.com hosts Rona Maynard's Video Profile

Visitors to Chatelaine's book forum this month are in for an extra treat -- Rona Maynard's Author Profile, which includes an insightful reading of passages from her new memoir My Mother's Daughter (McClelland & Stewart) as well as her own take on writing the every-woman tale of her relationship with her indomitable parent.

Check it out Chatelaine.com.

Jessica Rhaye & Pangaea Co-Promote Music & Books

When Tony Tobias of Pangaea Music House approached me about promoting books and music together, I said "halleluja! someone up here finally gets it!" In fact, Tony has been "getting it" for decades, having been one of the first to do pretty much everything here in Canada, if that it has anything to do with music, media and promoting his artists in the most innovative ways.

Jessica's new recording is titled "Jessica Rhaye - Short Stories" -- a natural connection on name alone. But then, the music - oh my gosh the music. It's fantastic, and we were thrilled and elated to have not one, but two tracks that complemented two of our author videos in production.

Rona Maynard's interview for My Mother's Daughter is made that much more Beautiful by virtue of its soundtrack, a song of the same name. With Anne Stone's Delible, Jessica herself exclaimed "I got chills listening to her inspiration for the book. [The song] Crazy Jayne is a perfect fit!!!! This is one book I am going to have to read...I am hooked!

Find out more about Jessica's appearance at the Music Cafe during TIFF JessicaRhaye.com and we'll report on Tony's fab plans for co-promoting the book and music as they happen!
