Lulu.com members are given a free consultation that assists the author in pin-pointing the most strategic approach to creative, budgets, distribution and marketing support.

Broken Pencil Indie Authors Get Shot!

Due to overwhelming positive response, and the excellent contributions of our spirited community, BookShorts and Broken Pencil announce TWO first place winners, each of which will be shot until they speak at the upcoming SCRIPT TO SCREEN Video program at BookExpo Canada!

A taste of the Author Profiles produced by BookShorts will be posted in July 2007 on BookShorts.com and BrokenPencil.com; in the meantme, BookShorts accepts manuscripts and short films (animated or live motion) based on books and authors for distribution through a growing network of lifelstyle broadcast outlets -- television, mobile, kiosk, special compilations on DVD and for editorial placements on special interest Internet portals.

Focus on Books for Tiny Readers at BEA

We have become brave of late, most likely due to the expertise and guidance of Nick Glass of TeachingBooks.net. BookShorts is dedicating a solid amount of camera coverage to Authors and Events at BookExpo America that features children's writers and publishers. One of the sessions we are looking forward to especially is the Children's Book Council-organized "Speed Dating with Children's Authors" -- yup, it's just like it sounds (except of course the date-ees are the booksellers!)

Visit BookExpoCast (BEA) and the BEC Podcast Program after the trade shows to see the clips! BookShorts.com/bookexpo

Trillium Book Awards June 4 and We'll Be There

20 years and more to come! That's the celebratory message in the about-to-be-screened Trillium Book Award 20th Anniversary Celebration. Weve been priviledged to speak with 13 of the award winners in the course of producing the video for and with OMDC -- watch for it's premiere on the BookShorts BiblioBlog or come on down to the event itself at Harbourfront -- www.readings.org for tikkies.
