BookShorts Lounge Hosts Book-to-Screen Success Story

The mega-multi-disciplined and inspiring SUE KENNEY is a paradigm of the modern artist - storyteller, performer, author, producer, director - accomplishing all these roles, and within an extraordinarily short period of time, by combining the drive of corporate life with the discipline of a pilgrim and inner creative flair.

Her story of perseverance with integrity will be brought to BookExpo Canada 11:30am on June 11, 2007, when she makes a return visit to BOOKSHORTS LOUNGE at Metro Toronto Convention Centre to celebrate her most recent success - the book-to-film deal for CONFESSIONS OF A PILGRIM, optioned for feature film development by Oscar-nominated CIRRUS PRODUCTIONS (C.R.A.Z.Y.).

Sue launched Confessions of a Pilgrim with BookShorts at BEC last year in advance of the finished book; she is now the second BookShorts author to have her book optioned for a feature -- both authors used their BookShort in the pitch!

She will be making a presentation for fellow authors that aspire to have their written work migrate to the screen, stage and podcasts everywhere. For details about this and more of Sue's events, audio CDs, book, and film projects, visit http://www.suekenney.ca

Authors Getting Shot in Script to Screen Studio

We're thrilled to report that a full roster of authors will be immortalized on camera in the BookExpo supported "Script to Screen" Video Production and Distribution Program, a new addition to the show roster. Here are just a few of the many writers, books and organizations to be covered:

Barry Callaghan interviewed by Ray Robertson; Anne Stone interviewed by OpenBook Toronto's Amy Logan Holmes; Madeleine Marentette interviewed by BookShorts Director Irene Duma; extreme marathon athlete Ray Zahab interviewed by BookShorts screenwriter Michael McGarry and Christopher Paul Curtis, a wonderful children's author that BookShorts "met" at the Speed Dating session at BEA; plus The Writer's Union's newly ensconced Chair Susan Swan on the LongPen petition to Stephen Harper; and coverage of the Libris Awards, Devices and Desires, Booked!, and much more.

BEA Speed Dating Preview Now on Blog

Those folks at CBC - no, not *that* CBC, the Children's Book Council CBC in New York. They really hit on a great formula, our first speed dating encounter. 20 children's authors and illustrators, 20 tables and 200 booksellers! Definately a dynamic event, and a heck of a lot of fun. We've posted a clip even though our editor says were going to jazz it up even more.
