BookShorts New Media Innovation in Book Marketing
Short Films Launch Book Marketing for the Global Content Era

Unlike the music industry, where companies ignored the consumer’s preferred platforms at their peril, word is spreading internationally in the book trade about the merits of bridging the gap between technology and books using short film and interactive content. Publishers are moving quickly to embrace the BookShorts innovation -- participating with new release titles in the BookShorts 2006 program are: PENGUIN GROUP (CANADA); THE SECRET MOUNTAIN; ECW PRESS; WHITE KNIGHT BOOKS; MCCLELLAND and STEWART; EDGE SCIENCE FICTION FANTASY PUBLISHERS; RANDOM HOUSE CANADA; and THOMAS ALLEN PUBLISHERS.

Kim McArthur, CEO of McArthur & Company, an early champion of the program:
“We feel that it is absolutely essential to explore new arenas for promoting our books and authors, Pauline Couture’s Ice and Patrick Watson’s This Hour Has Seven Decades now will be seen by an entirely new audience of readers and we couldn’t be more pleased with the result!”

Sharon Klein, Deputy Publicity Director, Random House of Canada:
“Random House of Canada is delighted to work with Judith again. If there’s one book to lend itself to the BookShorts format, it’s Douglas Coupland’s book, JPod. We’re really excited about all the possibilities.”

Susan Swan, author of What Casanova Told Me:
“The genius of BookShorts is the way they encourage a younger generation more familiar with screens to pick up a book. I foresee a day when BookShorts are everywhere––on cell phones, elevator screens, as high school teaching aids, even on domestic and international airline flights...BookShorts already work on websites and TV, but this is only the start of their usefulness”
