THE UPSIDE OF DOWN is now available in Canada and the U.S., in the U.K. and in Australia,. Series Description

The MovingStories.TV syndicated video program will be comprised of a curated selection of short films, author interview videos and animated trailers, first made available online. The total duration of each show will be approximately 6 to 8 minutes. A new show will be broadcast every two weeks, and will generally follow this format:

Segment 1 - Opening Show ID (10 sec)
Segment 2 - Editorial - short film / video (1.5 min)
Segment 3 - Editorial - short film / video (2 min)
Segment 4 - Sponsor message (5 - 10 sec)
Segment 5 - Editorial - short film / video (3 - 4 mins)
Segment 6 - Closing Show ID (10 sec)

We do feel that each show should represent at least one each of a fiction, non-fiction, and children’s title. We are considering whether each presentation will have an overall theme; to some degree that will be determined by the content chosen as well as feedback from the viewers.

Benefits to CBA Members

By curating the selection of films and videos broadcast in each show, we can be sure to select content that is current and of particular interest to retailers, on the date it is broadcast. For instance, “I’ve Got a Home in Gloryland” by Karolyn Smardz-Frost was published by Thomas Allen in May, however the author has just won the Governor General’s Award for Non-Fiction - we are able to present that book video in the show line up now, to complement GG sales initiatives.

The other significant benefit is that the show is offered free to CBA members. The syndicated content can be placed on CBA member websites, on screens in stories, or used to help staff with sales by giving them a quick, easy and fun way to know more about various titles.

We will certainly be open to suggestions on which authors and books to feature (we are shooting new film and video all the time). CBA Members will come to know they can rely on the high quality production, relevance, and entertainment value of each broadcast installment.

Distribution

The show will reside on the BookShorts servers. There will be a number of ways in which the CBA members can post the show on their own websites. The easiest will be to embed some HTML code for the BookShorts video player into the member site just once; the player software will update the content stream whenever a new show is broadcast.
